The TO-REACH consortium meets in Milan, Italy

On Monday 12th and Tuesday 13th June 2017, the TO-REACH consortium gathered for the second time on the Bocconi University premises (Milan, Italy) for a two-days meeting.  The partners discussed the first months of the project activities and exchanged ideas about the next steps of TO-REACH.

The first day opened with an introduction by the project management team about the early activities of TO-REACH, including the institution of a Scientific Advisory Committee (SAC) based on the feedback received from the consortium. The project partners also discussed the formation of a Political Advisory Committee, which will be established by end of 2017 and that will integrate the research-focused role of the SAC to ensure a correct link between the project work and the broader policy arena.

The meeting continued with two presentations dedicated to the activities of Work Package 2 – Mapping and analysing priorities, common themes and gaps in research on good models of care provision in Europe, and Work Package 3 – Analytical framework and knowledge synthesis on the identification, transferability and scaling up of good models of care. Representatives from the two Work Package Participants, including NIVEL, the European Observatory on Health Systems and Policies and the Institut national de la santé et de la recherche médicale, had the chance to present their work to the partners, exchanging views and collecting key feedback for the upcoming tasks.

During the rest of the first day, the consortium discussed about other key elements of the project, including the upcoming TO-REACH workshop in September 2017, dissemination and communication actions such as the project website and organisation and activities of the Work Package 4, focused on sustainability, international cooperation and links with existing health-related initiatives.

On Tuesday, representatives from the TO-REACH Scientific Advisory Committee finally met for the first time with the project management team and with the work package leaders. It was an occasion for the SAC to discover more about the project objectives and framework, and to provide the project partners with key insights and comments from their expert point of view.
